Applications for volunteering opportunities at FIGO Paris 2023 have now closed

Full Congress volunteer

Volunteer for the four days of the World Congress (9–12 October 2023) in return for complimentary registration. You will be asked to volunteer for 4 hours each day, and you will be involved in designated sessions throughout the morning or afternoon. Volunteers can attend any scientific sessions outside of their designated volunteer hours. All volunteers will receive a Congress-branded t-shirt.

Day volunteer

Applicants must work or live in France to become a day volunteer at the World Congress. Volunteers will receive complimentary registration for the day of their involvement. You will be asked to volunteer for 4 hours each day, and you will be involved in designated sessions throughout the morning or afternoon. Volunteers can attend any scientific sessions outside of their designated volunteer hours. All volunteers will receive a Congress-branded T-shirt.

What will I be doing?

If your application is successful, further details will follow closer to the Congress date, including a full rota, arrival times and venue information. You may be asked to:

  • assist the technical team to upload speaker presentations
  • support room set up such as moving furniture, replenishing water glasses for speakers and laying out reserved signs on designated seats
  • usher attendees and provide information
  • circulate speaker biographies to chairpeople
  • keep time for speakers
  • provide registration support and monitor attendance at sessions
  • manage wireless microphones during interactive Q&A sessions
  • support at merchandise or catering stands.

What skills, experience and attributes do I need?

Along with having great communication and interpersonal skills, we ask that you are:

  • punctual, flexible and committed to the successful delivery of scientific sessions
  • willing to work as part of a team
  • oral proficiency in French is desirable
  • enthusiastic about FIGO’s vision to achieve the highest possible standards of physical, mental, reproductive and sexual health and wellbeing throughout the lives of women around the world
  • if you have specific skills and experience that you think might be useful, such as event management, using registration software, or leading teams, please let us know when you apply.

What can I expect from FIGO?

In return for your valuable support, we aim to ensure that volunteering at the FIGO World Congress is a fulfilling and worthwhile experience. You will have support from staff, with the opportunity to gain and develop skills and meet other volunteers. FIGO will issue a certificate of participation to all volunteers following the event. On the application form, you will be asked to select which specialist streams are of most interest to you and FIGO will endeavour to assign you to related scientific sessions.
